Santa Maria Day 1

Monday July 5, we left our house at 3 am. By 4:30 we were picking up Grandma Louise and in for a long day ahead of us. We drove and drove and drove and finally made it to Santa Maria and my sister Hannah's house at 2:50 pm. We were on the road for 12 hours! When we arrived my parents and my sister Bethany were already there. Hannah and Daniel had just moved into a new house and so the first thing we did was tour the house. Then we all relaxed for about an hour. My parents (Papa David and Grandma Judy) had brought all kinds of presents for the kids, toys, dress up clothes, swimsuits, and clothes to wear all week long.
Connor immediately took hold of his cousin Jackson and didn't want to let him go.
This was the first time Grandma Louise got to see Jackson since he was a month old and only five pounds. Now he is 10 months old and 17 pounds. She immediately fell in love with him.

Grandma Judy dressed Ryleigh up in her Princess outfit. She wore the skirt on several outings!

Then we all packed up and headed to Avila Beach. We were not able to get into the water that first day because there were signs up saying that a shark had been sighted. We had fun playing in the sand. We were surprised by how cold it was. It was colder than when we went to visit in March.

Colby and Cade had a blast playing in the sand.

Grandma Louise was so cold we had to bundle her up. She was surprised by how much she liked the beach.

Cade got sand everywhere.

At bedtime Grandma Judy had a surprise for the kids. How to Train your Dragon PJ's with capes. They had so much fun pretending to fly around.

Ryleigh is not used to sharing a room so she had a little trouble falling asleep, until she moved over by Daddy. They crashed hard.
We were all happy to go to sleep after such an adventurous day. I forgot to mention that we ate dinner at a Marie Callender's overlooking the ocean. It was so beautiful!
